Danielle's Hello Kitty Cupcakes (December 2012)

Red Velvet cupcakes with vanilla cream cheese buttercream, decorated with colored fondant Kittys and flowers. These were made for my friend Danielle's birthday.  The cupcakes were a surprise and she absolutely loved them.  The picture of Danielle is priceless, her huge smile with the cupcake really makes the work I put into them worth it.

Florida Gator Cake

Florida Gator carrot cake with vanilla buttercream.  I received a nice "Thank You," not from Dave, I had to include it.  This makes me feel like I accomplished what I set out to do.  Make a delicious cake with a lasting impression. I'm happy to be a part of a birthday memory.

Japanese Cherry Blossom Themed Baby Shower & Grad Party

I have two sisters, Cissy is having her third baby, another little girl to add to her growing family, everyone is super excited to meet her.  Tina, is my youngest sister and she just graduated from High School, Class of 2012!  We are so proud of her accomplishments. In honor of both of them, my Mom, Aunt and I hosted a Japanese Cherry Blossom themed party.  Tina loves all things Japanese and since cherry blossoms are pink, it fit in with the new baby girl. 

I made carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, chocolate cupcakes with chocolate butter cream and vanilla butter cream frosting.  They are adorned with pink and white fondant rounds topped with cherry blossoms.  I cut out 170 small flowers, rolled chocolate fondant for branches and added edible pearls to each flower.  I then air brushed an iridescent food coloring for a little shimmer. The cupcakes were stacked on two cupcake displays, one had a "double happiness" Japanese symbol, the other had a paper fan with cherry blossoms.  On each side were two vases of cherry blossoms and branches.

The house was decorated in hand painted cherry blossom signs with Japanese words such as "Konichiwa," "Omedetou," "Itodakimasu," and "Koufuku" (Hello, Congratulations, Let"s Eat and Happiness). We also hung pink lanterns and white light lanterns with cherry blossoms.  Each table had cherry blossom petals, a pink take-out carton with candy and a paper fans for the guests. 

I made my first "Diaper Cake."  This is when you make tiers of diapers look like a cake and adorn with baby goodies.  I added bath items, wash clothes, cloth diapers, and toys.  I also added pink, brown, and cherry blossom ribbon along with cherry blossom flowers and butterflies.

It was lots of fun and everyone enjoyed the BBQ and yummy cupcakes.  It was the first time we didn't have any leftovers. That's a good sign of a great party and spectacular food.

A special thanks to my Aunt Lydia and Uncle Larry for opening up their home for this occasion and to my Uncle Larry for some delectable mouthwatering BBQ.

Joey's 8th Birthday - Rainbow Cupcakes

I made rainbow cupcakes for my Daughter's 8th Birtheday party.  I had the girls decorate their own with different candies.  I also pre-decorated a few to have out to show for the party.

Haunted Heartbreakers Cake

This cake was made for my daughter's end of the season Softball Party.  The Haunted Hearbreakers had an undefeated season; they also took 2nd place in the Labor Day tournament and 1st place in the Turkey trounament.  These girls played every game with lots of heart and 100% dedication, we couldn't be more proud. The cake is heart shaped chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting.  Covered in red fondant, hand painted rag doll and softball. Not pictured are the vanilla cupcakes decorated to look like softballs.

Severed Hand

OK, so I can't take credit for this one.  My husband did this all by himself for a Halloween party we went to.  It is yellow cake with chocolate frosting covered with flesh colored fondant.  It has white chocolate bones sticking out and he airbrushed with red for the blood.  There is also crushed cookies and chocolate syrup for the dirt around the hand.
